Emma Theresa Hintz was born about 1869 in the United States – the daughter of Louis Hintz and Ellen Theresa McMahon.
She sailed for Australia in the 1870s with her family and they settled in Victoria where her mother died in 1877.
Her father re-married two years later and the following year they moved to New Zealand.
They lived in Dunedin where Louis worked as a broom maker.
When Emma signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Union St, Dunedin. She married at her home on 17 February 1897 to Carl Odin Henry Moller, a jeweller.
They had two children and lived in Dunedin until they retired to live near their children in Hastings.
Carl died in 1938 and Emma died on 18 September 1952 – they are buried together in the Hastings Cemetery.
