Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Emma Cornelia Johanna Greff was born about 1849 in Paderborn, Westphalia, Germany – the daughter of Carl Greff.

She arrived in Otago in 1873 on the James Nicol Fleming from Glasgow travelling as a cabin passenger.

Emma married John Suttie McIntosh, a bank clerk from Milton, on 22 February 1877 in Dunedin.

They had five children and when Emma signed the suffrage petition the family were living in George St.

John died in 1909 and Emma died on 24 August 1922 at Ross Home in Dunedin, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
