Emma Woodward was born in Southwell, Nottinghamshire in 1852. She was the daughter of Henry Snr and Ann Woodward. She emigrated to New Zealand with her brother Henry Woodward and his family after 1871, including her neice Clara, who also signed this Sheet.

Emma never married, and died at her home at 21 Forbury Rd, Caversham on 3April 1923. She was 71 years old. Emma is buried in Anderson’s Bay Cemetery, Dunedin.
