Esther Yates was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Yates and Mary Ann Jones.
She married James Timlin on 15 March 1884 in Dunedin and they had six children, one who died in infancy.
When Esther signed the suffrage petition they were living in Duncan St, North East Valley.
She died on 25 May 1939 and James died in 1943 – they are buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
