Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Esther Mary Paul was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Smith Paul, a photographer, and Clara Sarah Rowland.
She married William George Squire, a seaman, on 13 April 1893 at the Great King St, Congregational Church.
They had one daughter and when Esther signed the suffrage petition they were living in Forth Street.
In 1943 they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary with a “happy gathering of friends” at their home.
William died in 1948 and Esther died on 14 August 1964 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
