Eva Bugden was born in 1872 in Kent, England – the daughter of Edward Bugden, a farm labourer, and Emily Messiter.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Gareloch and they settled in Milton.
Eva married James Keen, a potter, on 27 April 1892 in the Milton Parish and they had four children.
Eva signed the suffrage petition in Milton –she died in Milton Hospital on 30 August 1930 and is buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
James re-married in 1949 – he died in 1960 in Milton.
