Eva Hurley was born in Lower Hutt in 1857. She was the daughter of Henry and Catherine Lynch, who farmed at the properties Emerald Glen -/Dalcusch between Paekakariki and Raumati.
At the age of 24 she married Jeremiah Hurley at Paekakariki, and had six children. Eva lived in Manukau when she signed the petition, and died in Wellington in 1920 at the age of 63.
