F. COLE is likely to be the unfortunately named Fanny Buttery COLE nee HOLDER (Buttery was, however pron. 'Beautrais'; Huguenot origin) b. (?)Shropshire 20 June 1860 d. 25 May 1913 m. 1884 Herbert COLE 1858-1917. Fanny arrived in NZ in 1880 with 3 sisters. Fanny's parents were Charles HOLDER 1821-1895 and Fanny nee BUTTERY 1822-1883 who were both ChCh Methodist preachers and activists. Fanny COLE inherited her formidable mother's penetrating stare. She was primarily a temperance campaigner and was President of the WCTU at the time of her death. 2 daughters.
