The 1893 electoral roll confirms Frances Matilda, St John's St, Woolston (The 1993 transcript of petition page 182 erronously gave the address as 'E. Morrisy'.)

Biography contributed by Anne Bichan:

My great grandmother Frances Matilda Hartshorn (nee Tustin) was born on 11 March 1852 at New Street, St Martins, Worcestershire, UK and baptised on 25 December 1868 at St Peter, Wolverhampton. Her parents were John David Tustin (tailor) and Matilda Ann Thomas. She had 10 siblings.

She married William Hartshorn on 10 September 1877 at St Peter, Wolverhampton. William was born 13 August 1849 in Ettingshall Lane, Wolverhampton, UK and died 15 June 1926 in Christchurch NZ. They had two children, Alice Matilda (1879-1959) and William Francis (1880-1970).

Frances travelled to New Zealand with her two children on the ship 'Kaikoura' which sailed on 26 July 1888 and arrived at Lyttelton on 10 September 1888. William was not with them so possibly sailed at an earlier date.

She died on 9 July 1897 in Christchurch, NZ aged 45 after suffering from cervical cancer for two years and is buried with her husband in Linwood Cemetery, Christchurch.
