Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Frances/Fanny Crummar was born about 1836 in County Fermanagh, Ireland – the daughter of John Crummar.

She married William Mackey, a farmer, on 21 September 1860 at Drumkeeran in County Fermanagh.

They had a daughter (See 132 Isabella Dickson) about 1861 before Fanny and Isabella emigrated to New Zealand in 1866 on the Viola. What happened to William is unclear.

Fanny married Andrew Murray on 5 June 1868 in Dunedin and they had three children.

Andrew worked as a school teacher and they lived at Mokoreta, Waiwera, Grove Bush, Wyndam, Skippers and Wendon before they retired to Mataura where Fanny signed the suffrage petition.

Andrew died in 1907 and Fanny later went to live in Dunedin with her daughters.

She died there on 12 April 1921, she is buried with Andrew in the Mataura Cemetery.
