Fanny Gibson Inglis was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Inglis, a mason, and Elizabeth Mauchin.

She married John Hope, an undertaker, in 1890. When she signed the suffrage petition Fanny, John and two of their children were living in Maryhill Tce, Mornington, Dunedin. They were eventually to have seven children. Fanny's sister Mary also signed the suffrage petition.

Fanny died at her home in Galloway St, Mornington on 24 December 1940 and John died in 1950.

They are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
