Biographical information provided by Corrina Gordon for the He Tohu exhibition:
Fanny Phair (1865-1921) married Alfred John Goodrick Goslin in 1880. They had five children – two girls and three boys. Fanny also seems to have had one child before she was married.
Her husband owned a fishmongers business in Christchurch. This also seemed to be a bar, known as an oyster saloon. At one time, when Fanny was minding the shop and had a young child, she was attacked by an irate customer, who was later fined and sentenced to prison.
