Flora Wilson was born about 1845 in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Wilson, a tailor, and Flora Jamieson.
Her father died in the 1850s and she emigrated to Otago with her family in 1863 on the Ben Lomond.
Flora married John Campbell Hodges, a bank agent, on 7 November 1864 at her mother’s home in Dowling St, Dunedin.
They had 11 children, one who died in infancy, and when Flora signed the suffrage petition they were living in Mosgiel.
They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1914 before John died in 1921.
Flora died on 29 September 1935 at her home in Dunedin, they are buried in the family grave in the East Taieri Cemetery.
