Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Florence Alice Dent was born in 1867 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Dent, a coal miner, and Ruth Ingham.

When Florence signed the suffrage petition, she was living with her family in Ashburton.

She married draper, Arthur Parker Williamson in 1893 and they had three children.

The family lived in Ashburton and Masterton before settling in Wellington where Arthur died in 1934.

Florence died on 15 January 1950 – she is buried with Arthur in the Karori Cemetery.
