Biographical information provided for by Christa Hopkinson for the He Tohu exhibition:

Florence Woolmer was born in 1871 to Ellen and Gavin Peacock. She grew up in Puketapu in the Hawke's Bay. In 1899, Florence married Herbert Charles Palairet Woolmer in a large ceremony at the Napier Cathedral. Florence wore a crème brocade dress with a chiffon and orange blossom finish. Shortly after the wedding, Herbert and Florence moved to Auckland before emigrating to London in 1900. Florence, Herbert and their three sons were a well-travelled family, visiting places such as Canada and the United States as well as making occasional trips back to New Zealand. Florence passed away in Paddington, London in 1948 at age 77.
