France Amelia Clement Hunter was born in Lerwick, Shetland Island in 1867 – the daughter of James Hunter, a bank accountant, and Amelia Frances Clement. (See 43 Mrs James Hunter)
The family emigrated to Otago in 1878 on the Calypso as saloon passengers and when Frances signed the suffrage petition she was living with her parents in Grosvenor St, Kensington, Dunedin. Frances did not marry.
She died on 2 November 1939 at Talboys Home, Dunedin and is buried with her parents in the Southern Cemetery.
