Elizabeth Frederica Faul McCambridge’s parents Daniel and Emily nee Faul were married at St Paul’s Church, Dunedin on 28 November 1868.

Her father was a doctor who advertised as a 'surgeon and accoucheur' in the Naseby and Mt Ida district of Central Otago.

Daniel died in June 1872 as the result of a fall from a horse while on his way to visit a patient.

Her mother moved to Dunedin where her sister lived and Frederica was born there in November 1872.

Her mother lived by taking in boarders until she re-married in 1875.

When Frederica signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Mechanic St, North East Valley, Dunedin working as a waitress.

She married Frederick Powell on 19 April 1900 at Ashburton. They had four children, three who died in their first year of life.

The family lived in Ashburton and Frederic worked as a labourer.

Frederic died in 1923 and Frederica died on 31 August 1926, they are buried with their infant children in the Waterton Cemetery, Ashburton.
