Notes:

Although the signature looks like ‘Fredk White’ it is not completely clear whether this is ‘Frederick White’ himself, or his wife Elizabeth (ie Mrs Frederick White). There is no other signature for Elizabeth White on the 1893 petition, although it does look like she signed the 1892 petition.

Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Frederick White was born about 1828 in Hastings, Sussex, England. He arrived in New Zealand about 1863.

He was living in Josephine St, Caversham in 1884 working as a fish hawker. He remained there until his death on 25 April 1898, he is buried in the Southern Cemetery.  His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1907 at Alexander St, Caversham and she is buried with their son Thomas’ wife, also in the Southern Cemetery.
