G C Dickie was born Jennifer Collins Cowling on 21 December 1834 in Fowey, Cornwall, England to William Cowling, Mariner and his wife Charlotte Collins. She was baptised on
8 February 1835.
In the June Quarter of 1856 Jennifer married William Dickie in Poplar, England. They had five children.
William Dickie, age 69 years died in the March Quarter 1888 in Poplar, England.
Jennifer and her children emigrated to New Zealand in 1889, the year after the death of her husband.
At the time of signing the 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition, Gennifer Collins Dickie was living at 32 Arthur Street, Te Aro, Wellington. She was still living there in 1897.
Around 2004, houses on Arthur Street were demolished for the construction of the inner-city bypass.
The electoral rolls record that by 1899 Gennifer had moved to Sieverston Terrace, Wellington. By 1911 she had moved to Plunket Street, Wellington and in 1914 was living at
5 Boulcott Avenue.
Genifer Collins Cowling Dickie died on 4 November 1919 and is buried in the Karori cemetery, Wellington CH Eng 2 Plot 372 E.
