Georgina Frances Rainton was born in New Zealand in 1870 – the daughter of Joseph Rainton, a baker, and Jane Bruton.

She married James Thomas Hastie, an expressman, on 27 July 1892 in Dunedin and they had a son in 1893.

When Georgina signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Andersons Bay, Dunedin.

She died in the Dunedin Hospital on 1 September 1894 and is buried in the Northern Cemetery.

James re-married in 1901 and he died in 1952. He was cremated & his ashes were scattered.
