Georgina Mary Benzie was born in 1868 in New Zealand, the daughter of Mary Jane Farquhar Benzie.
When her mother married Alexander Horatio Burnes in 1870, Georgina became Georgina Adamina Mary Horatia Burnes.
The family lived in Waikouaiti, where Georgina signed the suffrage petition, before moving to Hawera about 1900.
She died in Hawera on February 4th 1910, and is buried with Alexander and her mother in the Hawera Cemetery.
Her obituary said she “was a lady of quiet and retiring disposition, who died a lot of good unostentatiously. She will be much missed amongst the Sunday School children”.
