Georgina Stevens was born in 1853 in Lewisham, London – the daughter of George Stevens, a railway ticket collector, and Eliza Ann Parish.
She married George Edward Palmer in 1877 and they emigrated to Otago in 1880 on the “Wellington” accompanied by Georgina’s brother George Stevens.
George Palmer died in September 1880 – he is buried in the Old Port Chalmers Cemetery.
Georgina married Thomas Stark, a clerk, on 28 April 1883. They had six children, one who died in infancy, and when Georgina signed the suffrage petition they were living in Farley St, Kaikorai, Dunedin.
Thomas died in 1914 and Georgina died at her son’s home on 1 October 1942 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
