Gertrude Solomon/Soloman was born on 20 November 1847 in Hobart, Tasmania – the daughter of Lewis Solomon, a merchant, and Esther Davis.

She came to New Zealand with her family in the 1860s and thet settled in Dunedin.

Gertrude did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.

She died on 27 November 1935 and she is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
