Grace Mitchell Little Murray was born in 1875 in New Zealand – the daughter of Robert Scott Murray, a farmer, and Mary Young. (See 106 Mary Murray senr)

The family farmed at Merton, North East Valley and Shag Valley before moving to Puerua in 1887 where Grace signed the suffrage petition, at the age of 18.

Grace married John Stewart, an engine driver and widower with four children, in 1907.

Grace and John had a further five children and lived in Mataura & Clinton.

John died in 1932, he is buried with his first wife in the Romahapa Cemetery.

Grace died on 25 September 1959 in Dunedin, she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
