Grace Meikle Marshall was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Robert Marshall, a farmer, and Janet Johnstone.
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at Outram, West Taieri.
She married Charles MacPherson, a labourer, in 1901 - they had five children and lived in Edendale in Southland.
Charles died in 1938 and Grace died on 28 March 1946, they are buried together in the Edendale Cemetery.
