H Bateman was likely to be Henrietta Smith born c.1866.
In 1889 she married Charles Riley Bateman, the son of Henry Bateman and Ellen Strudwick. Charles was a Bricklayer.
In 1893 at the time that she signed the Petition she was living in Leonard Street, Waimate.
In 1911 Charles and Henrietta were living in Timaru Road, Waimate. In 1938 Henrietta was living at 103 Parsonage Road, Waimate.
Charles Bateman died on 20 November 1931 age 68 years and Henrietta Bateman died on 5 October 1944 age 78 years in Waimate. Both are buried in the Waimate cemetery, New Methodist section Plot 0015NME000136. They are in an unmarked grave.
