Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Hannah Logan was born about 1831 in Scotland, and arrived in New Zealand about 1857.

In 1865 she married Henry Beck, a widower with eight children. They had two children of their own, including Allison Carey Beck who would also sign the petition.

Henry died in 1877, at the age of 66. In 1890 Hannah appeared in the news when a house she owned and had rented out was found to contain an illicit still.

Hannah died on 29 June 1926, at the age of 95, at her daughter Allison’s house in Lees St, Dunedin.

She is buried in the Southern Cemetery with Henry and Henry’s first wife Charlotte.

Hannah was mentioned at the Trinity Methodist Church anniversary celebrations in 1926, as she had been 'connected with the church for 26 years'.
