Hannah McQuarrie was born in 1868 in Bluff – the eldest daughter of Daniel McQuarrie, a blacksmith, and Johanna Hurley.
When Hannah signed the suffrage petition she was living in Gore.
She married Walter Gee, an accountant, on 30 April 1894 in Gore and they had five children.
Walter died in Gore in 1945 and Hannah died in Dunedin on 23 January 1960 – they are buried together in the Gore Cemetery.
