Helen Shepard was born in 1859 in New Zealand – the daughter of Charles Green Shepard and Susan Harris.
The family lived at first in Lyttleton and Christchurch before moving to Dunedin.
When Helen signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Maitland Street.
Her parents died in 1898 and 1900. Helen died at her sister’s home in Christchurh on 1 January 1929 – she is buried with her brother in the Bromley Cemetery.
