Annie Amelia Smith was born in Victoria, Australia in 1861 – the daughter of William Henry Smith, a printer, & Mary Boyle.
She came to New Zealand with her family as an infant and they settled in Christchurch where her mother died in 1870.
Annie married, coach builder, Alfred Ernest Hall on 31st August 1884 in Christchurch.
They had 4 children & by the time Annie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Andersons Bay, Dunedin.
Annie died in Dunedin Hospital on 18th February 1914 and Alfred died in 1920 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
