Hannah Fulton was born about 1846 in Scotland, she married James Ferguson, a stone mason, on 29 December 1871 in Govan Lanarkshire and they had two children.
The family emigrated to New Zealand about 1874 and settled in Oamaru in North Otago.
A further six children were born in Oamaru, one who died in infancy.
The family moved to Dunedin in 1886 and when Hannah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Walter St, Maori Hill.
James died in 1916 and Hannah died on 24 July 1931, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
