Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Hannah Reeves was born about 1821 in Shropshire, England.
She married John Packham on 12 August 1839 at St Pancras Old Church in London.
John worked as a wheelwright, licenced victualler and a coffee house keeper – they had eight children and lived in London until John appears to have died in 1871.
In 1880 Hannah, accompanied by two of her daughters emigrated to Canterbury in 1880 on the Opawa – Hannah held the office of Matron on the voyage.
When she signed the suffrage petition Hannah was living in North East Valley, possibly with her daughter Jessie. (See 163 Jessie A Blunt)
Hannah died on 13 December 1900 – she is buried in the Linwood Cemetery, Christchurch.
