Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Hannah Fraser was born about 1828 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of John Fraser, a ropemaker, and Jane.
She married Duncan McKellar on 21 November 1852 and they had three children in Liverpool and Scotland before Duncan appears to have died.
Hannah re-married to carpenter John Pollock on 1 February 1861 in Glasgow.
They had two children in Scotland and a further two in South Shields in England before the family emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Zealandia.
They settled in Dunedin and when Hannah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Henry St, Maori Hill.
Hannah died at their home on 4 October 1903 and John died in 1910 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
