Hannah Evans was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Evans and Phoebe Westlake.
She married John Wesley Wootton, a letter carrier, in 1886.
They had eight children, one who died in infancy, and when Hannah signed the suffrage petition the family were living in South Dunedin.
John died at their home in 1949 and Hannah died at Ross Home on 9 November 1957, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
