Harriet Elizabeth Giles was born in Pidlington, Oxfordshire in 1858 to William Giles, a painter, & Jane Robinson.
Harriet & her parents along with 4 siblings arrived in New Zealand in 1874 on the Tweed.
She married Richard Maddox, a storeman, in 1880 and they had four children.
Richard died on 17 November 1907 at Brunswick St and Harriet on 4 July 1941 at Moreau St. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
