Helen Douglas was born about 1825 in Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand about 1860, and married George Anderson in 1862.
George was a widower with three daughters. He worked as a seedsman and nurseryman.
They lived in Waikouaiti where Helen signed the suffrage petition.
George died at their home in 1896, and Helen died in Dunedin on October 19th 1916. They are buried together in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
