Helen Walker was born about 1841. She married John Godfred Nordgren, a gardener from Sweden, in 1882 in New Zealand.

They did not have any children and when Helen signed the suffrage petition they were living at Broad Bay on the Otago Peninsula.

John died at their home in 1909 after which Helen moved to Dunedin. She died on 21 July 1926 and is buried with John in the Broad Bay Cemetery.
