Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Henrietta Baxter was born about 1832 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland – the daughter of John Baxter, a weaver, and Grizzel Wilson.
She married Robert McIntyre, a slater, on 31 December 1860 in Glasgow and they had five children, two who died in infancy, before they emigrated to New Zealand in the 1870’s.
They settled in Dunedin and when Henrietta signed the suffrage petition they were living in Stuart St, Kaikorai.
Henrietta died at her home on 1 June 1894 and Robert died in 1908 – they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
