Honor Briggs was born about 1845, she married Jacob Dil in 1878.

Jacob was a Dutch seaman who had deserted ship in 1875 claiming that he had been ill treated and half-starved on board.

They had three children and when Honor signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Leith St, Dunedin and Jacob was working as a fish dealer.

Honor died on 10 September 1908, she is buried in the Northern Cemetery.

Jacob later moved to Auckland where he died in 1930, he is buried in the Waikumete Cemetery, Auckland.
