Isabella Miles Hopcraft was born in Dunedin in 1865 – the daughter of Joseph Hopcraft, a bricklayer, and Margaret Armour.

When she signed the suffrage petition Isabella was living with her family in Queen St, North Dunedin.

She married John William Burnet, a tailor, on 4 April 1912. They had no children and John died in 1914.

Isabella died at Queen St on 18 February 1940, she is buried with John in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
