Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Isabella Neill was born on 24 August 1861 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland – the daughter of William Neill, an ironstone miner, and Jane Gray. (See 143 Jane Neill)

She emigrated to New Zealand on the William Davie with her widowed mother & siblings, arriving in Wellington in 1872.

The family settled in Otago and when Isabella signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at Sandymount on the Otago Peninsula.

She did not marry and she died on 6 June 1940 at Portobello. She is buried in the Portobello Cemetery.
