Isabella Campbell was born about 1834 in Scotland.

She married John Allan on 16 April 1856 in Dundee and they had a daughter two years later.

The family emigrated to Otago in 1860 on the Pladda and settled in Dunedin where John worked as a painter.

They had a further 10 children, two who died in infancy.

When Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Albany St.

She died on 13 January 1906 in Parnell, Auckland while visiting her daughter and is buried in the Purewa Cemetery.

John died at Ross Home, Dunedin in 1919, he is buried in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
