Isabella Thompson was born about 1853 in Glasgow, Scotland.
She arrived in New Zealand about 1863 and she had a son in February 1873 with Maurice Lyons. They do not appear to have married and Maurice died in July 1872 before their son was born – he is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
Isabella married John Colvin, a carpenter and butcher, on 4 June 1875 in Dunedin, John was a widower who had lost his wife and new-born child while travelling to Otago in 1861 on the Silistria.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petition they were living in Forth Street.
John died in 1905 and Isabella died on 24 June 1946 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
