Isabella Gunn McIntosh was born on 18 February 1839 at Tyree, Argyllshire, Scotland – the daughter of Duncan McIntosh and Johana Fraser.
Isabella married George William Brown, a Master Mariner, on 28 November 1865 in Glasgow. They had two children - both died in infancy.
Isabella’s husband George died in Dunedin in 1877. When she signed the suffrage petition Isabella was living in William St. She died on 7 January 1913 and is buried in the Northern Cemetery with her husband, mother and brother.
