Isabella Iggo was born in 1865 in Gateshead, Durham, England – the daughter of Thomas Ainsley Iggo, a painter and decorator, and Amelia Isabella Gibson. (See 341 Amelia I Iggo)
She emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Peter Denny with her family who settled in Bluff.
Isabella married George Kirkland, a labourer, in 1885 – they had three children and when Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Bluff.
George died in 1912 and Isabella died on 28 July 1949, they are buried together in the Bluff Cemetery.
