Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Isabella Dickison was born in 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Dickison, a carpenter, and Janet Walker.

She married James Lilly, a farmer, on 28 August 1883 in Dunedin – they had a daughter in 1892.

When Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living at Riverside near Port Molyneux.

Later in life they moved to Balclutha where James died in 1928 and Isabella died on 29 December 1939.

They are buried together in the Balclutha Old Cemetery.
