Isabella Catherine Rowe was born in 1860 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Rowe and Mary Ann Jane Kelly.
She married William Henry Martin, an engine driver, in 1876 and they had 11 children, two who died in infancy.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petiton the family were living in Union St, Dunedin.
They later lived in Waiotahi Creek then in Mangapehi where William died in 1927 – he is buried in the Old Te Kuiti Cemetery.
Isabella died on 22 February 1931 at Rawene – she is buried in the Rawene Cemetery.
