Isabella Chalmers was born in 1871 in the Tokomairiro district – the daughter of David Heron Chalmers, a farmer, and Rebecca Black. (See 92 Rebecca Chalmers)
Isabella married Alexander Mitchell, a farmer, on 31 May 1889 in the Tokomairiro parish.
When she signed the suffrage petition they were living near Milton.
They had nine children, two who died in infancy.
Isabella died at her home in Milton on 5 January 1936 and Alexander died in 1950, they are buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
