Isabella Reid was born about 1833 in Scotland.

They had a further five children and lived near Milton where James worked as a shepherd and coal miner before they purchased a farm.

In the late 1870s the family moved to Fairfax, near Milton, where Isabella signed the suffrage petition.

James died in 1908 and Isabella died at her home on 15 April 1911, they are buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
