Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jeannie/Jane Brown was born about 1852 in Scotland.

She emigrated to New Zealand in the late 1860s with her mother Rebecca and she married James Anderson, a baker, on 8 October 1869 in Dunedin.

They had, at least, five children and when Jeannie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in William St, Dunedin.

Jeannie died at their home on 23 January 1916 and James died in 1928, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
